Wi-Fi Room

Fix your Wi-Fi Room

Choose what you see in the game and follow the short fix. You do not need to understand profile IDs or server terminology.

What error 60000 means

Your save remembers a different WFC server.

The DNS change worked, but the friend code already stored in this save belongs to an identity created on Nintendo WFC, Wiimmfi, Kaeru, or another server. Choose what you want to do with that friend code:

Start over Get a new friend code

Reset or update the local WFC profile. This does not erase your save, Pokémon, or story progress; it only replaces the online identity and friend code.

Get a new friend code
“MAC address” does not mean a Mac computer. It is the 12-character network address of your DS or emulated DS. Find it under Nintendo WFC Settings → Options → System Information, or in the emulator's network/firmware settings.

What should happen to your friend code?

For error 60000, keeping the current code is normally the easiest option.

Keep your current Pal Pad friend code

What “keep my friend code” does

It tells StarMe DNS to recognize the online identity already stored in this save. It does not move Pokémon, edit your progress, or require the other player's friend code.

  • Works even if your browser and DS use different networks.
  • Use your own Pal Pad friend code—not the code of the person you want to trade with.
  • Use the MAC address already assigned to the DS or emulator running this save.
  • The change only becomes permanent after the game connects successfully.
1. Open Pal Pad

In the game, open the Pal Pad and find your own friend code.

2. Fill in this form

Enter your code and this DS or emulator's MAC address. A MAC address is not a Mac computer.

3. Connect in-game

Enter the Wi-Fi Room. Keep this page open until it says confirmed.

Keep this save's friend code

Enter the code shown for your trainer and the MAC address used by the DS or emulator running this save.

Accepted examples: 206759432547, 2067 5943 2547, 2067-5943-2547.
This is a network address, not an Apple computer. Find it in Nintendo WFC Settings → Options → System Information, or in the emulator's network/firmware settings.

Common Known Issues

Error 60000 after changing DNS servers

The game still remembers the online identity that created its current Pal Pad friend code. The game version and save data are not broken.

Choose one fix. Do not reset first if you want to keep the current friend code.
  • Keep the code: enter your own Pal Pad code and this DS or emulator's MAC address in the form above, then enter the room.
  • Start over: update the WFC profile and accept a new friend code. Your Pokémon and game progress are not erased.
Two emulator windows need two different MAC addresses

A MAC address identifies an emulated DS; it has nothing to do with owning a Mac computer. If two windows share one address, both can enter the room but a trade or battle may stall.

Give every emulated DS a unique address in its firmware or network settings, then restart the emulator. If connection-slot settings copied from one game to another, those games may be sharing the same emulated DS firmware; do not run that same identity in two windows at once.
Generate a unique emulator MAC

Generate one address for each emulated DS, assign it in the emulator first, then use that same address in the friend-code form if you need to fix error 60000.

A newly added friend is still missing

Both players must add each other's Pal Pad code. The service now sends a delayed roster refresh after the first reciprocal add, and this worked on the first attempt in the latest Gen 4 production test, but an already-open game can still cache its roster.

Confirm that both players saved the other code, then wait a moment. If the friend is still missing, leave the Wi-Fi Room and reconnect; there is no need to delete and add the code repeatedly.
An immediate second session may not start

Starting another trade or battle immediately after one ends can occasionally leave the game waiting before it begins the new connection.

Wait 15-30 seconds before starting the next session. If no connection begins, both players should leave the Wi-Fi Room, reconnect, and try again.

FAQ

I get an error or disconnect when I enter the Wi-Fi Room. What should I do?

First check whether the save already has its own Pal Pad friend code. If it does, use the migration form to preserve that code and its profile ID. If you do not need the old code, reset the local WFC identity and let this service create a new one. Also confirm that the DNS connection test succeeds before retrying.

Should I migrate my profile ID or reset my WFC identity?

Migrate if you want to keep the friend code already shown in the Pal Pad. Reset only if you are happy to receive a different identity and friend code. Resetting first removes the identity the migration path is meant to preserve.

Do I need dashes or spaces in the friend code?

No. Type or paste the code however you have it. The page accepts digits, spaces, and dashes, then normalizes the code before sending it.

Why do I need the MAC address?

The MAC address ties the migration window to your own DS or emulator. That prevents another player from accidentally claiming your Pal Pad code while the window is open.

Where do I find the MAC address?

Open Nintendo WFC Settings, then Options, then System Information. Use the MAC address shown there. Emulator users can use the MAC configured for the emulated DS connection.

Why does the server need my Pal Pad code?

The friend code contains the profile ID your save already expects. Returning the wrong profile ID usually makes the game disconnect right after login.

Why did melonDS ask me to update my WFC profile?

Updating the WFC profile resets the emulator's local Nintendo WFC identity. On the next login the service creates and persists a new profile ID, and the game receives a new friend code. Use this when you intend to start over, not when you want to preserve the old Pal Pad code.

Do I need to reset my WFC identity after server maintenance or a redeploy?

Normally, no. Generated and migrated profile identities are stored persistently. Retry the connection first. If a returning save still disconnects and its Pal Pad already shows a friend code, use the migration path instead of repeatedly resetting the identity.

Can I keep using my old friend code after a reset?

No. A reset creates a different WFC identity and profile ID, so the save receives a new Pal Pad friend code. Friends must replace the old code with the new one.

What happens after I start the migration window?

You have about ten minutes to enter the Wi-Fi Room from the DS or emulator whose MAC address you entered. The server confirms the migration only after the game continues past login.

Does this work for Gen 4 and Gen 5?

Yes. Choose the generation that matches the save you are migrating, then connect from that game during the open window.

What if the window expires?

Nothing permanent happens. Start a new migration window when you are ready to connect from the game.
